AMSA & AMAQ

AMSA (Australian Medical Students Association) is the peak national body for medical student representation. GUMS members are automatically members of AMSA. They operate under 6 substructures:

• Advocacy (at a local, state, national and international level)
• Community (including National charity drives, blood drives, other volunteering events)
• Events (including National Convention and National Leadership Development Seminars)
• Global (including Global Health Conference)
• Membership (benefits including competitions, discounts, scholarships and bursaries)
• Publications (including Embolus, Panacea, Intern and Residents Guide, Medical Schools guide)

Dinesh is the GUMS AMSA representative for 2010, so contact him at amsa@gums.org.au if you have any questions or requests of AMSA. He also represents GUMS in the AMAQ (Australian Medical Association of Queensland), QMSC (QLD medical students council) and CoRR (Council of residents and registrars).
