GET INVOLVED @ GUMS

Date: 07 Apr 2010
After a tough block of GIT, Endo and Repro, the second years are finally able to let their hair out and forget about the horrible week they just spent cooped up in their rooms. For those not spending Wednesday night apologising to friends and family for your feral and possibly insane behaviour over the last week, come down to Billy's Beach House in Surfers for a night of friends and fun.
Billy's is not like the other dingy surfers clubs so everyone can come and enjoy a nice evening. We’ve also arranged some great deals for the night. Get down there early for happy hour until 9pm. We would like to stress that ALL YEAR LEVELS ARE WELCOME!!! We hope to you all there.

The first instalment of the GUMS Movie Club is a documentary called "A Walk to Beautiful", which follows the lives of 5 Ethopian women who get fistulas, showing not only the physical disability they deal with but also the psychological/social trauma they go through as a result. It will be screening in lecture theatre 4.07A at 5:30pm this Tuesday. Entry is a gold coin donation, the proceeds of which will go to Paradise Kids, a locally based foundation on the Gold Coast that provides a safe place for kids to go to when they're in trauma. Popcorn and lollies will also be sold on the night for $1-$2 (proceeds also going to Paradise Kids).

Come celebrate your last few days of freedom with GUMS before the exam study terror sets in. GUMS are hosting PINK party on the 9th October at Shooters Lounge Bar & Nightclub. Tickets are $10 (or $15 at the door) and are available through Oztix (www.oztix.com.au). All profit from the night will go to the McGrath Foundation to raise funds to employ more Breast Care Nurses.
We'll be hosting a few competitions throughout the night, but the biggest and best will be the best dressed comp. The winner will receive a HOLIDAY IN THE WHITSUNDAYS. So boys, suck it up for one night, and go buy yourself something pink and frilly - you may not pick up that night, but you'll definitely pick up if you have a spare ticket to a whitsundays holiday.

Battling out over the topic of 'That medical care should be provided free', with us being the affirmative, we have a bitchin team and it will make for a very entertaining event.
